THE IMPACT OF SOCIAL CAPITAL AND KNOWLEDGE STOCK ON THE ADOPTION OF FERTILIZER AND DRUG REDUCTIONS BY GRAIN GROWERS CONFIGURATION PATH RESEARCH
Based on the perspective of social capital and knowledge stock, this research is intended to explore the configuration path for grain growers to achieve high adoption of fertilizer and pesticide reductions,so as to provide a reference for the transformation of agricultural development mode and promoting the fertilizer and drug reduction behaviors.Based on the survey data in 2022,this study used the fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis method (fsQCA) to explore the configuration path of social capital (including social networks, social trust, social participation, and social norms) and knowledge stock as five antecedent variables to achieve high adoption of fertilizer and pesticide reductions in farmers. The results were listed as follows.(1) There was no necessary condition among the five antecedent variables to separately explain the high adoption rate of fertilizer and pesticide reductions of growers.(2) There were five configuration paths that led to the high adoption of fertilizer and pesticide reductions in grain growers:social networks * social participation * no social norms * knowledge stock;Social networks * social trust * social participation; No social networks * social participation * social norms * knowledge stock; No social network * social trust * social norms * knowledge stock; No social network * social trust * social participation * knowledge stock.Among them, the fourth path had the best explanation for the adoption rate of fertilizer and pesticide reductions of growers. Therefore, social capital and knowledge stock are key factors in promoting the reduction of fertilizer and drug reductions by grain growers.Social networks, social trust, social participation, social norms, and knowledge stock affect the adoption of fertilizer and pesticide reductions of grain growers through five configuration pathways.
