A Comparative Study of Marx and Proudhon from the Anti-Poverty Perspective
Marx and Proudhon were contemporaries of capitalism in the 19th century.In a certain sense,both Marxism and Proudhonism emerged in answering the question of the coexistence of wealth and poverty accumulation in capitalist society.Marx and Proudhon had decades of idea exchanges around the issue of poverty alleviation in capitalist society.Faced with the same issue of the times,they came up with different theoretical answers.Proudhon's early attention to the poverty reality among labors,his criticism of private property and his efforts to seek solutions to modern poverty were recognized by Marx.However,their understanding of the social and historical roots of poverty,their stances and methodologies,and their choices of anti-poverty paths are fundamentally different.
