Re-Analysis of the Drafter of The Manifesto of the CPC:An Investigation Focusing on the Usage of the Concept of"Society"by Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao
With regard to the drafter of The Manifesto of the CPC formed in November 1920,there are different opinions in the academia.Existing research generally believes that the drafter of the document should not be Chen Duxiu.However,from the us-age of the concept of"society"by Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao,it can be seen that Chen Duxiu set the goal of revolution as estab-lishing a"new society"very early,used"society"to refer to the macro-whole including politics,economy and other aspects with-out excluding the use of"society"in parallel with politics and economy.Li Dazhao set the goal of reform as creating"new life"and was accustomed to using specific"society"parallel to economy,politics and culture,etc.When referring to the macro level,he either adopted other words or used social life,social organizations and social systems,etc.Chen Duxiu's understanding of"so-ciety"is more relevant to the logic structure of The Manifesto of the CPC and he is more likely to be the drafter of the document.
