Research and Practice on the Implementation Path of New Engineering Construction for Traditional Specialties in Local Universities:A Case Study of Dalian Polytechnic University
In order to address societal needs and technological progress,Dalian Polytechnic University took initiative in integrating the new engineering paradigm into its Light Chemical Engineering undergraduate program,specifically in Pulp and Paper Engineering speciality with the following performed measurements:Extensive reforms featured an innovative elite training model,emphasizing practical skills through improved management and assessment;an academic mentorship system engaged students in early research and innovation,fostering their innovation awareness;curriculum reform included bilingual core courses,subject literature translation,interdisciplinary emphasis and the development of elective courses,promoting international perspectives and abilities in communication;the establishment of on/off-campus engineering practice platforms deepened integration between industry with education,improving students'abilities in engineering practice.These measurements significantly have contributed to students'progress in innovative projects,disciplinary competitions,graduate and postgraduate admission rates,and academic paper publications,comprehensibly improve students'overall quality,and effectively prepared students to confront future technological and industrial challenges.
