Objective To investigate the influential factors of community health services ( CHS ) in Shanghai so as to find out the key points for further development of CHS. Methods The six influential factors to community health services including per capita disposable income in urban households, consumption structure of local residents ( or Engel's coefficient), number of urban employees participating in basic medical insurance system, number of health professional personnel in CHS centers, number of CHS centers and number of beds in CHS centers were chosen and analyzed by using grey relational analysis, in order to fined out their impact on CHS in Shanghai. Results The correlation degree of the six factors were 0. 7784, 0. 6204, 0. 6713, 0. 8249 , 0. 6120, and 0. 7922, respectively. The number of health professional personnel in CHS centers had a greatest impact on CHS, following by the number of beds in CHS centers and per capita disposable income in urban households. Conclusion In future, it is necessary to further strengthen training of health personnel, especially general practitioners, in CHS centers in Shanghai. And it is also necessary to develop economy, to deeply optimize the allocation of medical resources and to promote the connection between health insurance and CHS institutions.
