Effects of Different Branch-to-fruit Ratios and Bagging on the Yield and Quality of Pitaya
The'Dahong'pitaya was used as the test material to explore the effect of different branch-to-fruit ratios and bagging on the yield and quality of pitaya. The results revealed that different branch-to-fruit ratios significantly influnced fruit weight and large fruit rate, but did not significantly affect on other qualities such as fruit soluble solids. The single fruit weight increased with the increase of branch-to-fruit ratio, among which 5∶1 branch-to-fruit ratio had the most obvious effect, and the rate of large fruit reached 100%,but the yield was the lowest;3∶1 branch-to-fruit ratio had the moderate single fruit weight and yield, and the performance was better in the soluble solids, edible rate, pericarp thickness and the evaluation of the sensation. And bagging significantly reduced the weight, yield and sensory scores of individual fruits, and also reduced the edible rate, but had no significant effect on the rate of large fruits, peel thickness, soluble solids, etc.Except for the black nylon mesh bags, the rest of the bagging treatments were to increase the incidence of sooty disease in the fruit and reduce the appearance of fruit quality;the cowhide bag had a high glossy fruit surface, bright red color, and sepals with the highest degree of green;white paper bags worked best to promote sepal reddening. In production, the recommended 3∶1 branch-to-fruit ratio+black nylon mesh bag cultivation method could ensure greater yield and effectively improve the quality of pitaya.
