Biogenic volatile organic compounds(BVOCs)have been shown to play an important role in atmospheric chemistry. In recent years,BVOCs emissions and regional atmosphere have been undoubtedly deeply affected by the global change-induced vegetation cover shifts.Using visualization tools VOSviewer and CiteSpace to analyze a total of 8467 publications from 1981 to 2023,the results showed that publications have continuously increased and experienced three climbing periods of publication quantities during this time. The United States and China were the leading countries in terms of the most cited scientific research achievements, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences was the standout unit in China.Based on the keyword analysis, the research could be categorized into four clusters:the methods of BVOCs detection, the chemical components and ecological effects of BVOCs,the relationships between environmental factors and BVOCs emission prediction. The research of BVOCs was focused on the rules of BVOCs emissions and ecological effects of the main substances before 2010.After that, the model-based simulation of regional or global BVOCs emissions was differentiated.Further research of BVOCs would be around the correlations between environmental factors and BVOCs emissions, the ecological effects of BVOCs under different conditions and the estimation of BVOCs emissions on a large scale.
