Research Progress on Damage Features and Control Techonology of Thrips Hawaiiensis on Banana Plantations
Thrips hawaiiensis is an important pest on banana plantations, which causes black spots on the skin of young fruits, reduces their appearance quality and commercial value.Chemical control technology may lead to the serious food safety issues. The morphology, identification methods, damage symptoms, biological features, dynamics of occurrence were described in the paper, and the control technology on banana plantations was summarized.Based on the current research progress, further research directions were proposed.Migrating rules, the regulation mechanism of host color and volatile substances on selecting behavior, insecticide resistance, development of pest control products using natural enemies and pathogenic fungi, precise and green control technology were worthy studying. The results would provide theoretical basis and technical support for the effective control to Thrips hawaiiensis on bananas gardens and the reduction of the insecticides residues in bananas.
