China's High-Quality Population Development:Connotation,Level and Regional Differences
This paper elucidates the theoretical connotation of high-quality population development in the new era.And it examines the high-quality population development status and spatial pattern in China by constructing a system of evaluation indicators, and it also explores the causes of the observed regional differences. We find that the high-quality development of China's population is rising, along with substantial regional disparities.Viewing from the disparity across the four regions at the longitude direction, the eastern and central regions are relatively ahead in high-quality population development, while the western and northeastern regions fall behind.Inter-regional differences contribute most to the regional disparity. From the latitude perspective, the high-quality population development is constantly differentiated with a patten of"high in the south and low in the north",and intra-regional differences contribute most in the North-South difference.Overall, differences in population distribution and population structure are the main drivers of regional differences.Based on this, the paper suggests to reasonably guide the orderly flow of population, balance the relationship between population and economy, society, resources and environment, optimize the population structure, and promote higher quality, more coordinated and more sustainable development of population.
