Is enterprise digital transformation an opportunity or a substitution crisis for employment:evidence from text analysis of Chinese listed companies
With the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy,it is particularly important to explore people's livelihood issues from the perspective of enterprise digital transformation.Taking China's A-share listed companies from 2012 to 2019 as a research sample, this paper identifies the digital transformation of enterprises through text analysis, and verifies the positive impact of enterprise digital transformation on the employment scale and salary level of the labor force. However, there are structural differences in the demand for labor with different skills, and non-state-owned enterprises, enterprises with lower production efficiency and greater financing constraints are more likely to use digital technology to replace labor, especially low-skilled labor. This study reveals the promotion and substitution effects of enterprise digital transformation on labor employment, and provides policy implications for promoting high-quality economic development and achieving the goal of"stable employment".
