Can the empowerment of followers by leaders in emerging technology innovation ecosystems enhance their dominance?
Empowerment between leading and following firms in emerging technology innovation ecosystems plays a prominent role in enabling leading firms to continue to lead innovation, drive industrial evolution, and then cross the"valley of death"of emerging technologies.Through the collection of 520 questionnaires from manufacturing firms,we analyze and explore the effect of the feedback effect of technological and resource empowerment from leading firms to following firms on the enhancement of ecological dominance of leading firms,as well as the existence of relationship perception and ecological openness as a role mechanism in this process. The results show that both technology-based and resource-based empowerment have a positive effect on the ecological dominance of leading firms, and there is a significant feedback effect from the empowerment of leading firms to their followers in the emerging technology innovation ecosystem;further analysis reveals that this relationship is positively moderated by relational perception and ecological openness. This not only deepens the research on inter-firm relationship structure and empowerment theory in emerging technology innovation ecosystems, but also helps to clarify the practical logic of strengthening ecological dominance of China's science and technology leading firms in the new international science and technology economic relations.
