Research on Resonant Leadership:A Literature Review and Directions for Future Research
Resonant leadership,a paradigm within relational leadership,underscores the synchronization of leaders'emotional states with those of their followers.Through the exhibition of mindfulness,hope,and compassion during interactions with followers,resonant leaders inspire their teams to maintain resilience and productivity.Nonetheless,scholarly inquiry into the definition,measurement,and implications of resonant leadership remains nascent,with a notable scarcity of comprehensive literature reviews.This paper undertakes a systematic examination of both domestic and international literature concerning the conceptualization,measurement,and precursors of resonant leadership.It delineates the impacts of resonant leadership at both individual and collective levels.Additionally,it articulates three perspectives encapsulating the effects of resonant leadership:reciprocity,emotional contagion,and resource exchange.Considering the unique attributes of Chinese organizational environments,future investigations are encouraged to refine the theoretical constructs and dimensions of resonant leadership,delve into its antecedents,embrace leader-centric research approaches,broaden the scope of analysis,and assess the moderating influence of Chinese cultural elements.Such endeavors will contribute to the progressive elucidation of resonant leadership research.
