Looseness-Strictness Harmony for Tolerance and Pioneering:The Dual-path Influence Mechanism of Paradoxical Leadership on Civil Servants'Creativity
The innovation of civil servants directly faces the real needs of the masses and can effectively improve the efficiency of government operation and the quality of public services,which is very important for building a service-oriented government that satisfies the people.Based on social information processing theory,this study explores the influencing mechanism of paradoxical leadership on the creativity of civil servants,and reveals the mediating role of civil servants'resilience and knowledge creation capability,as well as the moderating role of public service motivation.By analyzing 223 paired data between leaders and subordinates,this study finds that:(1)paradoxical leadership positively affects civil servants'creativity;(2)civil servants'resilience and knowledge creation capability play a mediating role between paradoxical leadership and civil servants'creativity;(3)the influence of paradoxical leadership on civil servants'creativity through the resilience and knowledge creation capability of civil servants is moderated by public service motivation,and when the motivation of public service is strong,the positive impact of paradoxical leadership on civil servants'creativity through the resilience and knowledge creation capability of civil servants is weak.The research results help to explain the mechanism of paradoxical leadership in government departments,and provide theoretical and practical implications for stimulating the creativity of civil servants.
