A Literature Review of Ambition in Organizational Context and Future Prospects
In the rapidly changing and highly competitive modern market environment,ambition as a personality trait drives employees to strive relentlessly for success,playing a crucial role in the survival and growth of organizations.This study reviews the existing literature on ambition,summarizing and analyzing its conceptualization and measurement while clarifying its theoretical foundations.It examines the influencing factors of ambition from the perspectives of individual characteristics and contextual factors.Additionally,the study summarizes the outcomes of ambition in areas such as employee attitudes and behaviors,career success,and life satisfaction,revealing its"double-edged sword"effect.Furthermore,the research analyzes the boundary conditions under which organizational contextual factors influence the effects of ambition.To address current research gaps,this paper suggests future research should focus on the localization of ambition measurement in the Chinese context,explore the mediating and moderating mechanisms underlying its double-edged sword effects,investigate its development and evolution,and examine the cognitive evaluations related to ambitious employees by their colleagues.
