Workplace Competitive Climate:A Literature Review and Future Prospects
This study provides a systematic review and forward-looking analysis,recognizing the growing prevalence and significance of workplace competitive climate,as well as the fragmented research in this field.It begins by summarizing the definitions and measurement approaches of workplace competitive climate at both the individual and team levels,focusing on constructs such as employee competitive psychological climate and team competitive climate.The review explores multilevel antecedents,outcomes,and moderating variables related to workplace competitive climate.Additionally,four theoretical perspectives—resource theory,social comparison theory,cognitive appraisal theory,and self-efficacy theory—are discussed to explain the impacts of employee competitive psychological climate.Similarly,five theoretical perspectives—person-environment fit,trait activation,self-determination,learning theory,and job demands-resources theory—are presented to elucidate the effects of team competitive atmosphere.Based on these insights,a theoretical framework is comprehensively proposed to integrate antecedents,consequences,and moderating effects of workplace competitive climate.Furthermore,directions for future research are suggested to enhance and deepen understanding in this domain.
