Research progress on the regulation mechanism of Bifidobacterium on the homeostasis health of gut microbiota
The gut is complex micro-ecosystem in the human body in which a large number of microorganisms are present. These microorganisms are interdependent with the body and play an important role in the body's metabolism, nutrition, and immune system.Disruption of the home-ostasis of the gut microbiota can lead to intestinal and metabolic health problems.Bifidobacterium,as one of the intrinsic gut microbiota, can maintain normal intestinal function by regulating the homeostasis of gut microbiota, but its mechanism of regulating the homeostasis still lacks systematic summarization. This paper summarized the recent five years'domestic and international research on gut microbiota homeostasis and its impact on human health and disease, and clarified that Bifidobacterium regulate gut microbiota homeostasis by competing for intestinal mucosal adhesion points with pathogenic bacteria, metabolizing indigestible oligosaccharides,cross-feeding with microbiota, and stimulating the immune system, which provided references for further research on the mechanism of Bifidobacterium to maintain the balance of gut microbiota and the development of Bi-fidobacterium microecological preparations for targeted screening.
