Effect of Light Control on Melatonin and Sex Hormone Secretion in Dairy Goats
[Objective]In this study,Guanzhong dairy goats were used as the research object. The effects of light control on the secretion of melatonin and sex hormones in the blood of dairy goats were studied by simulating the light conditions in the breeding season of dairy goats.[Method]This experiment selected 26 Guanzhong dairy goats as the experimental group, and controlled the lighting time in the shed to gradually transition from 16 hours of light and 8 hours of darkness to 8 hours of light and 16 hours of darkness. The levels of MLT,uteinizing hormone(LH),follicle stimulating hormone(FSH),and estradiol(E2)in the blood of ewes were measured using an ELISA kit.[Result]The concentration of MLT,FSH,LH and E2 in the blood of dairy goats in the experimental group could be significantly increased by a period of short light(P<0.05).The results of this study suggested that light control could regulate the activity of gonadal axis of dairy goats and increase the concentration of sex hormones in blood.[Conclusion]It can be seen that light induced estrus during non breeding seasons is simple, feasible, and cost-effective,which is conducive to its promotion and application in large-scale dairy goat farms.
