Comparative Analysis of Therapeutic Effect and Economic Benefit of Roll-and-toggle Pin Suture Technique and Laparotomy on Left-displaced Abomasum in Dairy Cows
[Objective]This experiment was conducted to study the therapeutic effect and economic benefit of blind needle fixation and incision surgery on the left displacement of abomasum in dairy cows.[Method]A total of 72 Holstein cows with left displacement of abomasum in one parity were selected, including 34 in incision group and 38 in blind needle fixation group. The cure rate, treatment days and parity milk volume data of each group of cows were counted, and the economic benefits of the two surgical methods were compared and analyzed.[Result]The cure rate of blind needle fixation for abomasum displacement was 3.09 percentage points lower than that of incision surgery, and the average treatment days were 5.12 days less than that of incision surgery. In addition, the amount of fitted milk for 305 days of blind needle fixation was 1 278 kg higher than that of incision surgery, and the economic loss was 6 879.96 yuan/head less than that of incision surgery.[Conclusion]Comprehensive analysis, blind needle fixation is superior to incision surgery in the treatment effect and economic benefit of left gastric displacement in dairy cows.
