Analysis of blood test index and cause of death of two live stranded Grampus griseus in Hainan
There were many cases of Grampus griseus stranding in Hainan Province in recent years.Grampus griseus(A and B)were found stranded in the waters of Dahuajiao,Wanning Hele Town,Hainan Province, and Mulan Bay,Puqian Town,Wenchang City,Hainan Province, respectively, and both died of their injuries and illnesses. In this study, blood routine and blood biochemical indexes of two dolphins were detected, and the cause of death was ana-lyzed by anatomy. The results showed that the subcutaneous fat of the two dolphins was thin, and they were all mal-nourished,and RBC,MCH and MCV in the blood of the two dolphins were higher than the normal range. The death of Grampus griseus A was caused by complications caused by body surface trauma infection; The respiratory system and digestive system of dolphin B were infested by a large number of parasites, and due to the long time stranded,it showed severe hyperosmolar dehydration, multiple organ lesions, and eventually died of systemic septicemia. In this study, blood routine and blood biochemical indexes of stranded Grampus griseus were detected, and the cause of death was analyzed by pathological autopsy, which provided reference data for the rescue work of stranded dolphins and had high theoretical reference value and scientific research value.[Chinese Fishery Quality and Standards,2024,14(3):25-32]
