During the critical period of global political and economic transformation, many Chinese narratives that reflected different paths of thinking about China's way out and national rejuvenation emerged in the 1930s.Inspired by the Soviet Union's A Day of the World,One Day in China was published at the time of the"Crisis of 1936".With its unique historical connotation and cultural experience from the left-wing perspective, this book effectively responded to the interpretation of China planned by other political and cultural forces.Mao Dun and others wrote about the crisis-ridden"present"of China in the form of"one-day history",breaking the homogeneous and empty linear view of history by synchronizing"an extremely ordinary day"with"a revolutionary day".They created the necessary narrative time and space for One Day in China, and also helped the left-wing revolution further penetrate into the writing of everyday life.Through One Day in China,left-wing intellectuals not only captured new historical dynamics at the time of crisis, and then created an effective narrative about China, but also carried out a broad political practice for the realization of national construction and realistic identity.
