This paper focuses on overseas Chinese enterprises in participating countries of the"Belt and Road"initiative, empirically testing the impact of home country high-level executives'tenure on their production automation decisions. The research finds that extending the tenure of home country high-level executives significantly increases the likelihood of overseas Chinese enterprises choosing production automation. This is achieved by increasing the autonomy of enterprise decision-making,improving supply chain stability, and strengthening the company's risk-bearing capacity to promote the selection of production automation, with the adaptability of employee organizations playing a positive moderating role.Heterogeneity analysis shows that in companies with higher freedom and a more diverse composition of high-level executives, the positive impact of extending the tenure of home country high-level executives on production automation decisions is more pronounced. This paper provides new empirical evidence for the automation transformation practices of overseas Chinese enterprises and the management of expatriate personnel.
