The Field of College Students'Volunteer Service and Its Educational Function
Taking Volunteer Association A as a case study object, this paper describes and analyzes the action strategies, field characteristics, and educational functions of college student volunteer service organizations. The annual turnover in organizational management, volunteer turnover, and the provision of frontline volunteer services by freshman volunteers are the main action strategies in the field of college students'volunteer service.By adopting these action strategies, the field of college students'volunteer service selectively meets the"response requirements"of donor fields and recipient fields, social practice fields and academic fields, national fields and internal governance units, and other related fields. However,it also leads to divergence in the educational function of college students'volunteer service fields in terms of quantity and quality. In terms of quantity, college student volunteer service organizations have maximized the recruitment of freshmen as volunteers and provided as many management positions as possible for senior volunteers. In terms of quality,it deviates from the philosophy of"service object-centered"and"volunteer-centered",diminishing the development potential of volunteer service organizations and compressing the growth space of volunteers. The key to improvement lies in enhancing the subjectivity of college student volunteer service organizations, transforming them into functional organizations with unique missions and effective execution capabilities.
