Effects of Pueraria lobata polysaccharides on intestinal microflora of cats
In order to explore the effects of Pueraria lobata polysaccharides(PPL-1)on intestinal flora of domestic cats,8 domestic cats with the body weight of 2.5~3.7 kg were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups according to body weight, with 4 cats in each group(two male cats and two female cats),including control group(W)and experimental group(E).Feces of the experimental group were collected after continuous oral administration of PPL-1 for 30 days. The diversity of intestinal flora was analyzed by Illumina Miseq high-throughput sequencing technology. The results showed that the polysaccharide could significantly improve the relative abundance of Proteobacteria,Bacteroidetes,Subdoligranulum and Bifidobacterium. The relative abundance of Firmicutes and Actinobacteria was significantly reduced. The results indicated that PPL-1 could significantly improve the diversity and structure of intestinal flora in cats, and had beneficial effects on the body.
