Research progress on efficacy and application of astaxanthin in livestock breeding
Astaxanthin is a keto-carotenoid with extremely strong antioxidant properties due to its special chemical structure.Currently,astaxanthin has broad application prospects in aquaculture and livestock breeding as an efficient and safe feed additive with biological functions such as antioxidant,immunity enhancement and inflammation mitigation.This paper reviewed the structural properties,sources and application effects of astaxanthin in livestock breeding,in order to provide theoretical references for the wider application of astaxanthin in livestock breeding.
