Effects of hawthorn and its compound Chinese herbal medicine on the growth,digestion and health of Micropterus salmoides
In order to investigate the effects of different Chinese herbal compound feed additives on the growth performance and digestibility capacity of Micropterus salmoides[initial weight(5.9±0.6)g,initial body length(6.3±0.3)cm].Randomly divide into 5 groups and feed them with compound Chinese herbal medicine(0‰,2.5‰,5‰,7.5‰ and 1 0‰).Each group had 3 replicates,with 50 fish per replicate.The experimental period was 4 weeks.The results showed that compared with the control group,the specific growth rate,weight gain rate,and protein efficiency of the 7.5‰ group showed an upward trend,but the changes in growth and feed efficiency were not significant in each group(P>0.05).The crude protein content and calcium content of Micropterus salmoides in the 7.5‰ group were significantly increased(P<0.05);The lipase activity in the stomach and hepatopancreas was significantly increased in the 2.5‰ and 10‰ groups(P<0.05),while the trypsin activity in the intestine and hepatopancreas was significantly increased in the 7.5‰ and 10‰ groups(P<0.05).In the control group,the villus length of foregut and hindgut,the villus width of midgut and hindgut,the thickness of hindgut muscle layer,the thickness of gastric mucosa and muscle layer were significantly lower than those of 2.5‰ and 5‰ groups(P<0.05);The height,width,and muscle layer thickness of the chorionic villi in the control group were significantly lower than those in the 2.5‰ and 7.5‰groups(P<0.05);Compared with the experimental group,the control group had blurred liver cell boundaries,shifted nuclear positions,severe cell vacuolization,and more fat droplets.In summary,adding a compound Chinese herbal medicine with hawthorn as the main ingredient in the feed at a content of 2.5‰~7.5‰ could improve the meat quality,digestive ability,tissue and organ health of Micropterus salmoides.
