Effect of adding fermented dioscorea opposita skin to the diet on the production performance of sows and suckling piglets
The purpose of this experiment is to investigate the effect of adding fermented dioscorea opposital skin to the diet on the reproductive performance of sows and the production performance of Suckling piglets.99 pregnant sows of the same gestational age were selected for the experiment and randomly divided into 3 groups:Group Ⅰ(blank control group),Group Ⅱ(2.5%fermented dioscorea opposita skin group),and Group Ⅲ(5%dioscorea opposita skin group). Each group has 33 replicates and 1 sow per replicate. The experimental period is from 85 days of pregnancy to 10 days after weaning, totaling 65 days. The results showed that:1)Compared with group Ⅰ,group Ⅱ and Ⅲ sows had significantly shorter birth process and estrus interval after weaning(P<0.05),while the constipation rate and average number of white fetuses in the litter were significantly reduced(P<0.05).food intake and estrus rate within 10 days after weaning were significantly increased(P<0.05).2)The litter weight, average individual weight,25 day weaning weight, and average daily gain of Group Ⅱ and Group Ⅲ were all increased compared to Group I,but the difference was not significant(P>0.05);The diarrhea rate of piglets in Group Ⅱ and Group Ⅲ was significantly lower than that in Group Ⅰ(P<0.05).3)Serum antioxidant indicators:The serum levels of CAT,SOD,and GSH-Px in group Ⅲ piglets were significantly higher than those in group Ⅰ and group Ⅱ(P<0.05);Compared with group Ⅰ,the serum levels of CAT,SOD,and T-AOC in group Ⅱ and Ⅲ sows were significantly increased(P<0.05),while the serum MDA levels were reduced, but there was no significant difference(P>0.05).4)The number of Clostridium perfringens in Group Ⅱ and Group Ⅲ was significantly lower than that in Group I(P<0.05);Although the number of bifidobacteria and lactobacilli in groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ increased, the difference was not significant(P>0.05),and the number of Salmonella and Escherichia coli decreased with no significant difference(P>0.05).The results showed that adding fermented dioscorea opposita skin to the diet of sows can reduce the constipation rate, improve the antioxidant capacity, reduce the loss of body condition during lactation, shorten the birth process and improve the reproductive performance of sows and the growth performance of Suckling piglets; The optimal addition level for fermented dioscorea opposita skin in the diet of sows is 2.5%.
