Comparison analysis of growth performance and molecular breeding potential of adult Sibu yaks with different coat color
As an important yak resource in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau of China, the resource characteristics mining and genetic improvement of Sibu yaks are outstanding helpful for improving the quality and efficiency of yak industry in Tibet. The aim of this study was to explore the growth performance characteristics of Sibu yak groups with different coat colors at the adult stage as well as identifies the dominant genotype distribution of candidate markers associated with important economic traits and evaluate the molecular breeding potential of Sibu yak.The results showed that the canno round and body height of black coat Sibu yak were significantly higher than those of brown coat yaks(P<0.01)at 5~7 years age,and there was no significant difference in body weight and body slope length between groups(P>0.05).However,the average body weight of adult brown yaks was slightly higher than that of adult black yaks.In addition,5 known markers related to growth, lactation and other economic traits of yak distributed in ACSL1,MyoD1 and TMEM18 gene had a high frequency of dominant genotypes in both Sibu yak populations, especially the TMEM18_C4447T and MyoD1_C1710T locus. There was not maker were significantly deviated Hardy Weinberg equilibrium(P>0.05)in both populations, which indicating that the Sibu yaks had not experienced strong artificial selection of economic traits in history. In general, this study not only clarified the adult growth characteristics of the Sibu yak with different coat colors and provided the basis for exploring the timely release technology of the Sibu yak,but also provided a theoretical reference for improving molecular breeding of Sibu yak in the future.
