The effect of the ratio of non fibrous carbohydrates to neutral detergent fiber in feed on the production performance, apparent digestibility of nutrients, and serum biochemical indicators of Dezhou donkeys
The experiment aims to explore the effects of the ratio of non fibrous carbohydrates to neutral detergent fiber(NFC/NDF)in feed on the production performance, apparent digestibility of nutrients, and serum biochemical indicators of Dezhou donkeys.Thirty Dezhou donkeys with good health status and a weight of(116.24±9.5)kg at 7 months old were randomly divided into three treatments, with 10 donkeys in each treatment. They were fed three types of granular total mixed diets(TMR)with NFC/NDF of 0.38,0.55and 0.91,respectively.The experimental period is a total of 45 days, with a pretrial period of 15 days and a main trial period of 30 days. Each donkey is fed 3.5 kg of TMR particles per day.The results showed that when feeding on three types of NFC/NDF diets, the daily weight gain, feed to weight gain ratio, and economic benefits of the 0.91 group were better than those of the 0.55 and 0.38 groups(P<0.05);When Dezhou donkeys fed three types of NFC/NDF diets, the apparent digestibility of digestible energy(DE),dry matter(DM),organic matter(OM),crude protein(CP),nitrogen-free extract(NFE),carbohydrates(CHO),and neutral detergent fiber(NDF)in the 0.91 group were significantly higher than those in the 0.55 and 0.38 groups(P<0.05);The apparent digestibility of NFE,CHO,NDF,and NFC in the 0.55 group was significantly higher than that in the 0.38 group(P<0.05);When Dezhou donkeys were fed three types of NFC/NDF diets, the levels of serum lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)and urea nitrogen(UIEA)decreased with increasing dietary NFC levels, while the levels of glucose(GLU),total cholesterol(TCHO),and low-density lipoprotein(LDL)increased with increasing NFC levels. From this,it can be seen that within the range of NFC/NDF(0.38~0.91)in the experimental feed, feeding high NFC/NDF(0.91)feed can effectively improve the average daily weight gain and economic benefits of Dezhou donkeys, while also improving the apparent digestibility of nutrients in the feed.
