The effect of adding Astragalus polysaccharides to the diet on the production performance, organ index, slaughtering performance, and muscle quality of broilers
In order to explore the effects of adding Astragalus polysaccharides to the diet on the production performance, organ index, slaughter performance, and muscle quality of broilers.600 1-day-old white feathered broilers were randomly divided into four groups:control group(basic diet),experimental group Ⅰ(basic diet+0.2%Astragalus polysaccharides),experimental group Ⅱ(basic diet+0.4%Astragalus polysaccharides),and experimental group Ⅲ(basic diet+0.6%Astragalus polysaccharides). Each group had 150 white feathered broilers, with 3 replicates in each group, each containing 50 white feathered broilers, and the experimental period was 42 days. The results showed that compared with the control group, broilers fed with 0.2%,0.4%,and 0.6%Astragalus polysaccharides significantly increased their average daily gain, feed intake, muscle stomach index, chest muscle rate, leg muscle rate, lean meat rate,Ph value, meat color, and crude protein content(P<0.05);The feed to weight ratio, sebum thickness, water loss rate, and crude fat content of broilers fed with 0.2%,0.4%,and 0.6%Astragalus polysaccharides were significantly reduced(P<0.05);The number of dead and eliminated individuals in broilers fed with 0.2%,0.4%,and 0.6%Astragalus polysaccharides significantly decreased. The above results indicate that Astragalus polysaccharides can not only improve the production performance, slaughter performance, and muscle quality of broilers, but also promote the development of their muscle stomach. The optimal dosage of Astragalus polysaccharides is 0.4%.
