Effect of adding camellia seedling extract in the diet on growth performance and physiological parameters of broiler chickens
To investigate the effects of camellia oleifera seedling extracts added to the diet on the growth performance and physiological parameters of broiler chickens,a single-factor completely randomized design was used for the following experiment design:600 one-day-old AA broiler chickens were randomly divided into four treatment groups, with five replicates per group and 30 chickens per replicate. The control group was fed a basic diet, while groups 1,2,and 3 were given basic diets supplemented with 200,400 and 800 mg/kg of camellia seedlings extract, respectively. This experiment began on the 1st day of age and ended on the 49th day of age.Test results:Compared with the control group, the average daily feed intake of broilers in each treatment group showed an increasing trend, but the difference was not significant(P>0.05);the body weight and average daily weight gain data of broilers in each treatment group at the end of the experiment showed a trend of first increasing and then decreasing with the increase in the amount of camellia seedlings extract added, among which the body weight and average daily weight gain of broilers in treatment groups 1 and 2 were significantly higher than those in the other two groups(P<0.05);compared with the control group, the feed-to-gain ratio in treatment groups 1,2,and 3 decreased by 0.02,0.03,and 0.01,respectively(P<0.05),with treatment group 2 having the lowest feed-to-gain ratio.Compared with the control group, the addition of camellia seedling extract in the diet had a significant effect on the blood parameters of broiler physiological parameters(P<0.05).The hemoglobin and hematocrit of each treatment group were significantly higher, and the serum glucose content was significantly lower. The hemoglobin and hematocrit data of broilers in each treatment group showed a trend of first increasing and then decreasing with the increase of camellia seedling extract addition, while the serum glucose content showed a trend of first decreasing and then increasing with the increase of camellia seedling extract addition. The hemoglobin and hematocrit of broilers in treatment group 2 were significantly higher than those in the other three groups, and the serum glucose content was significantly lower than those in the other three groups(P<0.05).In summary, under the conditions of this experiment, the addition of camellia seedlings extract to the diet can accurately improve the growth performance and physiological parameters of broiler chickens, with the best effect achieved at a dosage of 400 mg/kg.
