Plant essential oil is a volatile aromatic substance extracted from the flowers,leaves,fruits and other tissues of plants through steam distillation and pressing.Plant essential oils have various functions such as antibacterial,enhancing animal immunity,improving animal performance and increasing antioxidant capacity,and can be used as a green feed additive with promising applications.This paper reviewed the extraction methods of plant essential oils and their applications in livestock and poultry production,aimed to provide reference for the research and application of plant essential oils in the field of livestock and poultry production.
