Effects of adding antimicrobial peptides to feed on growth performance, diarrhea rate, immune function, and gut microbiota in piglets
To explore the effects of antimicrobial peptides on growth performance, diarrhea rate, immune function, and gut microbiota in piglets. This experiment used a random number table method to collect 180 25 day old,in good physical condition, and weighing(8.00±0.25)kg of Du×long×The large three element hybrid pigs were divided into four groups, namely the control group, experimental group I,experimental group II,and experimental group III.Each group had three replicates, with 15 piglets per replicate. The pre test period is 7 days, and the formal test period is 28 days.During the pre experimental period, each group of piglets was only fed with a basic diet.During the formal experimental period, piglets from the control group, experimental group I,experimental group II,and experimental group III were fed with 0%,0.5%,1.0%,and 1.5%antimicrobial peptides in the basal diet, respectively. The results showed that compared with the control group, the average daily feed intake and average daily weight gain of piglets in Experiment I,Experiment II,and Experiment III groups were significantly increased(P<0.05);The feed weight ratio and diarrhea rate of piglets in Experiment I,Experiment II,and Experiment III groups were significantly reduced(P<0.05);The levels of IgG and IgA in the serum of piglets in Experiment Group I,Experiment Group II,and Experiment Group III were significantly increased(P<0.05);The number of lactobacilli in the intestinal contents of piglets in Experiment I,Experiment II,and Experiment III groups significantly increased(P<0.05);The colony numbers of Bacillus,Salmonella, and Escherichia coli in the cecal intestinal contents of piglets in Experiment I,Experiment II,and Experiment III groups were significantly reduced(P<0.05).The above results indicate that adding a certain proportion of antimicrobial peptides to the basic diet of piglets can significantly improve their growth performance, reduce diarrhea rate, enhance immune function, and improve the structure of gut microbiota.Under the conditions of this experiment, the optimal additive amount for antimicrobial peptides is 1.0%.
