The impact of DDGS inclusion rates on growth performance, slaughter characteristics, and feeding costs of meat sheep
The aim of this experiment was to study the effects of corn DDGS supplemental ratio on growth performance, slaughter performance and feeding cost of mutton sheep.Forty meat sheep with similar weight, health status and age were randomly divided into 1 control group and 3 experimental groups with 10 sheep in each group and 10 replicates.0%DDGS was added to the diets of the control group, and 10%,20%and 30%corn DDGS were added to the diets of the 3 experimental groups, respectively. The experiment period was 150 days. Results On the surface,in terms of growth performance of meat sheep, with the increase of corn DDGS content in the range of 0%to 20%,the daily gain body weight, final body weight and experimental period increase body weight of meat sheep gradually increased(P<0.05),and the ratio of feed to gain gradually decreased(P<0.05).However,when the added proportion of corn DDGS in the diet was increased to 30%,the final body weight, daily body weight and weight during the experiment period showed a decreasing trend. In terms of slaughtering performance, carcass weight, net meat weight and slaughter rate of meat sheep increased with the increase of DDGS supplemental ratio in the diet(P<0.05).When 20%DDGS was added to the diet, carcass weight, net meat weight and slaughter rate of meat sheep showed the highest performance. When the DDGS ratio continued to increase to 30%,carcass weight, net meat weight of meat sheep, and carcass weight, net meat weight of meat sheep. The slaughter rate began to decrease, and there was no difference from the control group, and the net meat rate was not affected by the proportion of DDGS added to the diet.In terms of feeding cost, with the increase of the proportion of DDGS added to the diet, the cost of meat sheep per 1 kg gain decreased.Compared with the control, the proportion of DDGS added was 10%and 20%,and the weight gain cost was reduced to 2.63 and 4.76,respectively.When the proportion of DDGS added to the diet was 20%,the weight gain cost of meat sheep was the lowest, indicating the lowest feeding cost. When the proportion of DDGS in the increased diet was 30%,the weight gain cost of meat sheep began to increase.
