The effect of adding baitouweng saponins to the diet on the growth performance, serum biochemical and immune indicators of fattening pigs
The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of adding baitouweng saponins to the diet on the growth performance, serum biochemical and immune indicators of fattening pigs.160 healthy and well growing ternary hybrid fattening pigs were randomly divided into 4 groups, with 5 replicates in each group and 8 pigs per replicate.Add 0,10,20,and 40 mg/kg of Bai Tou Weng saponin to the basic diet as the experimental diet. The experiment lasted for a total of 70 days.Experimental results:Compared with the control group, the addition of 20 mg/kg baitouweng saponin to the feed significantly increased the final body weight of fattening pigs by 3.8%(P<0.05),the average daily weight gain significantly increased by 7.6%(P<0.05),and the feed to weight ratio significantly decreased by 6.7%(P<0.05).In addition, adding saponins from Baitouweng to the feed had no significant effect on the average daily feed intake of fattening pigs(P>0.05).Compared with the control group, the addition of 10-40mg/kg saponins from Baitouweng significantly increased the total serum protein content of fattening pigs(P<0.05);The addition of 10 and 20 mg/kg saponins from Baitouweng significantly increased the serum albumin content of fattening pigs(P<0.05);The addition of 40 mg/kg Baitouweng saponin significantly increased the serum aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase activities in fattening pigs(P<0.05);In addition, the addition of saponins, triglycerides, and total cholesterol in the diet did not have a significant effect(P>0.05).Compared with the control group, the addition of 20 mg/kg saponins from Baitouweng significantly increased the serum IgA and IgG content in fattening pigs(P<0.05);The addition of 20 and 40 mg/kg saponins from Baitouweng significantly increased the serum IgM and IL-10 levels in fattening pigs(P<0.05);Adding 20 and 40 mg/kg of saponins from Baitouweng to feed significantly reduces serum TNF in fattening pigs-α Content(P<0.05).In summary, adding an appropriate amount of Baitouweng saponin to the diet can promote the growth and development of fattening pigs by enhancing their immunity.Under the conditions of this experiment, the optimal amount of Baitouweng saponin added to the diet is 20 mg/kg.
