Research progress and application of dual regulation of animal immune function by Lonicera japonica
The normal functioning of the immune system plays a crucial role in protecting the health of animals.Under conditions of intensive animal farming,immune suppression or hyperactivation caused by various factors can lead to damage to the animal's body.Therefore,it is necessary to use traditional Chinese medicine and other approaches to regulate and restore the normal immune function of animals.Traditional Chinese medicine exhibits bidirectional regulation of animal immune function,promoting immune responses during suppression and inhibiting immune hyperactivation.Lonicera japonica,a traditional medicinal and edible plant,possesses functions such as antipyretic,anti-inflammatory,antimicrobial,antiviral,antioxidant,hepatoprotective,and immune-modulating properties.Currently,research on the bidirectional regulation of immune function by Lonicera japonica primarily focuses on compounds such as Lonicera japonica extract(LJE),chlorogenic acid(CGA)and Lonicera japonica polysaccharides(LJPs)with the final effects being the main observations and evaluations.This article summarized the relevant research on the immune function of Lonicera japonica in animals in recent years,analyzed the immune regulatory effects of Lonicera japonica from the perspectives of promotion and inhibition,as well as its application in animal health breeding,aimed to provide reference for the precise role and in-depth research of Lonicera japonica in regulating animal immune function.
