Determination and comparative study of components in by-products of Camellia oleifera seed with different processing techniques
The purpose of this study was to determine and compare the characteristics, conventional nutrients and main bioactive components of Camellia oleifeera seed cake,Camellia oleifera seed meal and Camellia oleifera seed kernel powder. The results showed that, compared with Camellia oleifera seed cake and Camellia oleifera seed meal,Camellia oleifera seed kernel powder had prominent advantages, being white powder with light bitter taste and porous honeycomb microstructure.Camellia oleifera seed kernel powder was rich in nutrition and bioactive components, and its crude protein, total sugar and sasanquasaponin contents were higher, which were 11.66%,38.50%and 18.85%,respectively.The contents of crude fiber and tannin were lower, which were 8.60%and 1.25%,respectively.The above results demonstrated that the characteristics, conventional nutrients and main bioactive components of Camellia oleifera seed kernel powder was superior to Camellia oleifera seed cake and Camellia oleifera seed meal, which had great potential for development and utilization as new and special feed resources.
