The effect of adding mulberry leaf flavonoids to feed on growth performance, muscle quality, and serum biochemical indicators of meat sheep
To explore the effects of adding mulberry leaf flavonoids to feed on the growth performance, muscle quality, and serum biochemical indicators of meat sheep.Forty healthy meat sheep were randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group. The control group was fed with a basic diet, while the experimental group was fed with a basic diet plus 100 mg/kg mulberry leaf flavonoids. Each group underwent four replicates, with five sheep in each replicate. The pre trial period is 15 days, and the main trial period is 120 days. The results showed that, the final weight, average daily feed intake, and average daily weight gain of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05),and the feed to weight ratio was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).The two groups had the same growth trend. The slaughter rate,GR value, eye muscle area, meat redness, and serum HDL content of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).The shear strength, cooking loss rate, water loss rate, yellowing, brightness, and serum GLU,TG,TC,and LDL content of the lamb were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Adding mulberry leaf flavonoids to feed can significantly improve the growth performance, meat quality, and enhance the regulation of lipid metabolism in meat sheep.
