Effects of different levels of Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract on growth performance, serum biochemical indices and serum immune indices of beef cattle
This experiment aims to investigate the effects of different levels of Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract in the diet on the growth performance, serum biochemical indicators, and serum immune indicators of beef cattle.72 Simmental bulls of similar age with an initial weight of(436.18±25.42)kg were selected and randomly divided into 4 groups×3 replicates×6 heads. Each group of beef cattle is fed diet+0%,0.1%,0.2%,and 0.3% of Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract are added to the diet, respectively. The pre trial period is 7 days, and the main trial period is 40 days. The Results:(1)Compared with the 0% Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract group, the 0.1% Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract group significantly increased the average daily weight gain of beef cattle by 21.71% (P<0.05),and the feed conversion rate significantly decreased by 10.98% (P<0.05).(2)Compared with the 0% Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract group, the total protein content in beef cattle serum was significantly increased(P<0.05)in the 0.2% and 0.3% Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract groups, while the activity of aspartate aminotransferase was significantly reduced(P<0.05).(3)Compared with the 0% Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract group, the 0.1%,0.2%,and 0.3% Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract groups significantly increased the IgA content in beef cattle serum(P<0.05),the 0.3% Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract group significantly increased the IgG content in beef cattle serum(P<0.05),and the 0.2% and 0.3% Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract groups had tumor necrosis factor in beef cattle serum-α The content significantly decreased(P<0.05).Conclusion:Adding low levels(0.1% )of Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract to the diet resulted in the best growth performance for beef cattle;Adding medium to high levels(0.2%,0.3% )of Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract to the diet can improve the serum immunity of beef cattle.
