The effect of potato protein feed on growth performance, immune organ index, and antioxidant function of weaned piglets
The aim of this experiment is to investigate the effects of potato protein feed on the growth performance, immune organ index, and antioxidant function of weaned piglets.400 healthy 28 day old hybrid piglets with a body weight of(7.93±0.14)kg were randomly divided into 4 groups, with 10 piglets as 1 replicate and 10 replicates as 1 group. They were fed experimental diets supplemented with 0%,1%,2%,and 4% potato protein feed, respectively. The breeding experiment lasted for 28 days. The results showed that compared with the control group, the ADG of piglets supplemented with 2% and 4% potato protein significantly decreased by 9.87% and 10.19%,respectively(P<0.05);The F/G of piglets supplemented with 2% and 4% potato protein significantly increased by 11.20% and 11.11%,respectively(P<0.05);In addition, supplementing 0% to 4% potato protein had no significant effect on IBW,FBW,and ADFI of piglets(P>0.05).The lymph node index and pancreatic index of piglets supplemented with 2% and 4% potato protein were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05);Compared with the control group, the spleen index of piglets in the group supplemented with 0% to 4% potato protein was significantly increased(P<0.05);In addition, supplementing 0% to 4% potato protein had no significant effect on the liver, renal fat, inguinal lymph nodes, and thymus index of piglets(P>0.05).The serum SOD activity of piglets supplemented with 2% and 4% potato protein significantly increased, and there was no significant difference between the groups(P<0.05);The supplementation of 0%-4% potato protein significantly reduced serum OH in piglets(P<0.05);Compared with the control group, the group supplemented with 2%-4% potato protein significantly increased serum H2O2 in piglets(P<0.05);In addition, supplementing 0% to 4% potato protein had no significant effect on the serum CAT activity,T-AOC ability, and NO content of piglets(P>0.05).In summary, when the amount of potato protein added exceeds 2%,it has a significant negative impact on the growth performance of piglets. Therefore, under the conditions of this experiment, the optimal amount of potato protein added is 1% .
