The effect of adding antimicrobial peptides to the diet on the growth performance, immune function, and economic benefits of fattening pigs
To investigate the effects of adding antimicrobial peptide(AP)to the diet on the growth performance, immune function, and economic benefits of fattening pigs.200 healthy and initially weighing(62.48±0.52)kg Duroc×Changx fattening pigs were selected and randomly divided into 4 groups. The fattening pigs in each group were fed with basic diet+0mg/kg(0AP group),100 mg/kg(100 AP group),200 mg/kg(200 AP group),and 300 mg/kg(300 AP group)of antimicrobial peptides. Each group has 5 replicates, with 10 replicates per replicate. The experiment lasted for a total of 30 days.Result:(1)Compared with the 0AP group, the final weight and average daily weight gain of the 200 AP group increased by 4.59% (P<0.05)and 16.35% (P<0.05),while the feed to weight ratio decreased by 10.68% (P<0.05).The final weight and average daily weight gain of the 100 AP and 300 AP groups were higher than those of the 0AP group, and the feed to weight ratio was lower than that of the 0AP group, but the difference was not significant(P>0.05).(2)Compared with the 0AP group, the serum IgA and IgG levels in the 100 AP group,200 AP group, and 300 AP group were significantly increased(P<0.05),while the serum TNF levels in the 200 AP group and 300 AP group were significantly higher-α The content significantly decreased(P<0.05).(3)The economic benefits of four groups of fattening pigs were 49.25 yuan/piece,70.00 yuan/piece,96.61 yuan/piece,and 72.87 yuan/piece,respectively.The economic benefits of the 200 AP group were the highest and significantly higher than those of the 0AP group,100 AP group, and 300 AP group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Adding 100-300mg/kg of antimicrobial peptides to the diet promotes the growth and development of fattening pigs, improves immune function and economic benefits. When the amount of antimicrobial peptides added is 200mg/kg,the economic benefits of fattening pigs are the highest.
