Effects of fermented mulberry feed on the growth performance, nutritional components, and immune function of fattening pigs
To clarify the influences of fermented mulberry feed to the growth performance, nutritional composition, and immune function of fattening pigs,a hybrid fattening pig with an average weight of(60±3.59)kg was selected.Five treatments were set up with 3 replicates per group and 6 pigs per replicate, and the addition amounts of fermented mulberry powder in each treatment were 0,4%,8%,12%,and 16%,respectively.A 50 day breeding experiment was conducted. The results showed that when the addition amount of fermented feed mulberry was 12% or less, there was no significant difference in the final weight, average daily feed intake, average daily weight gain, and feed to meat ratio of fattening pigs compared to the control group(P>0.05).Different levels of fermented feed mulberry had no significant effect on the water content, crude protein content, and intramuscular fat content of fattening pig pork(P>0.05),although the crude protein content slightly increased and intramuscular fat content slightly decreased with the increase of fermented feed mulberry added.Adding 12% fermented feed mulberry can significantly reduce the proportion of saturated fatty acids in pork and significantly increase the proportion of unsaturated fatty acids in pork(P<0.05).The proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids in pork was not significantly affected by different levels of fermented feed mulberry(P>0.05).Adding 12% fermented feed mulberry can significantly reduce the levels of serum IgG,IgM and IgA(P<0.05).Different amounts of fermented feed mulberry had no significant effect on the serum immune cytokine levels of fattening pigs(P>0.05).This study indicates that adding 12% fermented feed mulberry to the basic feed has no significant negative effects on the average daily feed intake, average daily weight gain, and feed to meat ratio of fattening pigs.It can improve the quality of pork to a certain extent, significantly increase the level of immunoglobulin in the serum of fattening pigs, and enhance immune function.
