Effects of ellagic acid supplementation on growth and development and blood biochemical indexes of lactation Hu lambs
The purpose of this experiment was to study the effects of supplying ellagic acid on the growth and blood biochemical indexes of lactation Hu lambs.Eighteen suckling lambs with birth date(10±3)d and average body weight of(5.41±1.71)kg were randomly divided into three groups:control group(n=6),experimental group Ⅰ(n=6)and experimental group Ⅱ(n=6).Under the same feeding and management conditions, the control group did not do any treatment.Group Ⅰ was fed with 15 mg/kg BW ellagic acid every day,and group Ⅱ was fed with 30 mg/kg BW ellagic acid every day for 45 days. The results showed that:(1)The total weight gain and average daily gain of suckling lambs in group Ⅰ and group Ⅱ were higher than those in the control group, which increased by 15.03%,14.99%,3.79%and 3.74%,respectively.(2)Serum total protein in group Ⅰ increased by 5.19%and 22.01%compared with control group and group Ⅱ;albumin in group Ⅰ increased by 17.54%and 13.74%compared with control group and group Ⅱ;serum total cholesterol in groupⅠincreased by 17.61%and 9.52%compared with control group and group Ⅱ.(3)There was no significant difference in enzyme activity among each group, but glutamic pyruvic transaminase was higher than glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase, and the activity of glutamic pyruvic transaminase in group Ⅰ was 51.2%and 55.10%higher than that in control group and group Ⅱ.(4)There was no significant difference in plasma Ca,P,Mg concentration and serum direct bilirubin among suckling lambs. However, the total bilirubin in plasma of lambs in group I was significantly higher than that in the control group, which was 56.28%higher than that in the control group. To sum up,under the conditions of this experiment, the addition of 15 mg/kg BW ellagic acid to lamb diet could improve its total weight gain, average daily gain, plasma nitrogen, sugar and lipid and mineral ion metabolism. The addition of 30 mg/kg BW ellagic acid to lamb diet could increase the activity of plasma enzyme.Comprehensive analysis showed that feeding 15 mg/kg BW ellagic acid to lactating lambs had better effect.
