Effects of Nauclea officinalis and tributyrin on growth performance, immune function and intestinal flora of Wenchang chickens
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of Nauclea officinalis and tributyrin on growth performance, immune function and intestinal flora structure of Wenchang chickens.A total of 240 1-day-old Hainan Wenchang chickens with good health and similar body weight were randomly divided into 4 groups with 3 replicates per group and 20 chickens per replicate.Chickens in control group(CON group)were fed a basal diet;Nauclea officinalis group(NOP group)was supplemented with 1000 mg/kg Nauclea officinalis extract in the basal diet;Tributyrin group(TBG group)was supplemented with 600 mg/kg tributyrin in the basal diet; The combined treatment group(NAT group)was fed the basal diet supplemented with 1000 mg/kg Nauclea officinalis extract and 600 mg/kg tributyrin. The experiment lasted for 28 days. The results showed as follows:(1)Compared with CON group, the average daily feed intake(ADFI)and average daily gain(ADG)of Wenchang chickens in TBG group were increased by 5.53%and 13.39%(P<0.05),respectively,and the ratio of feed to gain(F/G)was decreased by 7.27%(P<0.05).(2)Compared with CON group, thymus index, bursa of fabricius index and spleen index of Wenchang chickens in NOP group were increased by 24.11%,11.29%and 30.87%(P<0.05),and serum IgG was increased by 15.3%(P<0.05),respectively.(3)Compared with CON group,ADFI and ADG of Wenchang chickens in NAT group were increased by 7.18%and 16.74%(P<0.05),and thymus index, bursal index and spleen index were increased by 34.52%,22.59%and 22.17%(P<0.05),respectively.Serum IgA and lgG contents were increased by 8.20%and 22.75%,respectively(P<0.05).(4)Intestinal diversity analysis results showed that compared with CON group, the relative abundances of Ruminococcus,Olsenella,Blautia and Faecalibacterium in NAT group significantly increased, while the relative abundances of Desulfovibrio were significantly decreased. In conclusion, adding 1000 mg/kg of Nauclea officinalis extract and 600 mg/kg of tributyrin in chicken diet could improve the growth performance and immune function of chickens, improve the intestinal microflora.
