Effect of yeast cultures on in vitro simulated rumen fermentation parameters, growth performance and blood parameters in lake sheep
The aim of this experiment was to investigate the effects of yeast cultures on rumen fermentation, growth performance and blood routine of simulated rumen of lake sheep in vitro. In the in vitro simulation test,20 lake sheep with similar body condition were selected as donors of rumen fluid, the control group(CON)used basal culture substrate, and the experimental group added 1%yeast culture in basal culture substrate, and the parameters of gas production and rumen fermentation characteristics were determined after 72 h of incubation of in vitro simulated rumen fermentation. In the animal test,a total of 24 fattened lake sheep of the same age and similar weight were selected and randomly divided into 2 experimental groups, with 3 replicates in each group and 4 sheep in each replicate. The control group was fed a basal diet;the experimental group was fed a basal diet+10 g/d yeast culture, and the experiment lasted for 35 d.The results of the in vitro simulation test showed that the addition of yeast culture to the culture substrate significantly increased the cumulative gas production of the rumen of the lake sheep for 72 h in vitro(P<0.05),and elevated the kinetic index of gas production;Secondly,it significantly increased the concentrations of the total volatile fatty acids, acetic acid and propionic acid(P<0.05).The results of the animal test showed that the addition of yeast culture to the ration significantly increased the average daily intake of dry matter of lake sheep by 14.79%,6.03%and 12.33%in the fourth and fifth weeks as well as in the whole period of the test(P<0.05);there was a tendency to increase the daily weight gain of the test group(P=0.062),which was increased by 16.75%;there was a tendency to decrease the feed-to-meat ratio(P=0.051),which was decreased by 11.15%;and significantly increased the coefficient of variation of erythrocyte number and erythrocyte distribution width in blood(P<0.05).In conclusion, the addition of 1%yeast culture to the diet could improve the i n vitro rumen fermentation characteristics, growth performance and blood routine indexes of lake sheep.
