The effect of lycopene on production performance and duck's egg quality of Qingke Ⅳ laying ducks
To study the influences of lycopene on the production performance and egg quality of laying ducks under different additive amounts.A total of 360 280-day-old Qingke Ⅳ laying ducks, with good health conditions, normal feed intakes, and similar laying periods, were selected, randomly divided into 6 groups. Each group had 4 replicates, and each replicate 15 ducks. The pre-experiment period was 7 days and the formal experiment period 42.The control group was fed only a basal diet with no lycopene. The experimental groups(Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ,Ⅴ)were fed a basal diet supplemented with 100,200,300,400 and 800 mg/kg lycopene, respectively.(Experimental Result)There was no significant difference in feed intakes between the control group and the experimental groups,or between the experimental groups(P>0.05).The addition of lycopene to the basal diet significantly increased the laying rate, egg weight ratio and feed-egg ratio of laying ducks(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in strength and thickness of eggshells between the control group and the experimental groups,or between the experimental groups(P>0.05).The colors of egg yolk in experimental groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ and Ⅴ improved by 1.69,2.06,1.95,1.44 and 2.14,respectively(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in egg yolk colors between experimental groups(P>0.05).The measured values of Huff Unit,Albumen Height, and egg shape index of the experimental groups were significantly superior to those of the control group(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference between the experimental groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:The addition of lycopene to the basal diet could significantly improve the production performance and egg quality of laying ducks, and the appropriate dosage,as for this experiment, was 100 mg/kg.
