Effects of dietary vitamin E supplementation on growth performance, muscle quality and economic efficiency of beef cattle
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of dietary vitamin E supplementation on growth performance, muscle quality and economic efficiency of beef cattle.A total of 45 healthy 20-month-old bulls with a mean weight of(407.89±21.24)kg were divided into three groups of 15 bulls with 1 replicate per head in 3 groups. The total number of days was 97 days, including 7 days of adaptation and 90 days of formal tests.Vitamin E of 0,800 and 1600 IU/kg was added to the basal diet.Compared with the control group, compared with the control group, the FBW of beef cattle supplemented with 1600 IU/d vitamin E group was significantly increased by 3.10%(P<0.05),ADG was significantly increased by 13.27%(P<0.05),and ADFI was significantly increased by 6.59%(P<0.05),and compared with the control group, the feed-to-meat ratio of beef cattle supplemented with 800 IU/d and 1600 IU/d vitamin E was significantly reduced by 4.17%and 5.95%,respectively(P<0.05),and vitamin E had no significant effect on the slaughter rate and net meat rate of beef cattle(P>0.05).The marbling score of beef cattle muscle in the 1600 IU/kg vitamin E group was significantly higher than that in the other two groups(P<0.05).The shear force of beef cattle muscle in the 1600 IU/kg vitamin E group was significantly lower than that in the other two groups(P<0.05).The glutamic acid and glycine levels of beef cattle in the 1600 IU/kg vitamin E group were significantly lower than those in the other two groups(P<0.05),and there was no significant effect on the cooked meat rate,pH 48 h,hydraulics, aspartic acid, tyrosine, alanine and phenylalanine contents(P>0.05).After the addition of vitamin E,the unit prices of feed were 1.61,1.66 and 1.71 yuan/kg,respectively(P<0.05).Combined with feed intake,1562.02,1615.01 and 1768.31 yuan(P<0.05).The gross profit calculated comprehensively was 1008.65,1075.07 and 1146.99 yuan.(Conclusions):Vitamin E(1600 IU/kg)had a certain effect on the growth and meat quality of beef cattle, and the economic benefits of beef cattle in this group were the highest.
