The effect of adding mugwort powder to feed on horse racing performance and blood biochemical indicators
The aim of this experiment is to investigate the effects of adding mugwort powder to the feed on the performance and blood biochemical indicators of horse racing.Forty healthy and physically fit horses aged around 4 years with a certain training foundation were selected and grouped based on their 800 meter race results. The experiment consists of four groups, with 10 replicates per group and 1 horse per replicate.Add 0%,1%,2%,and 4%Artemisia argyi powder to the basic feed as experimental feed, and the experiment lasts for 21 days.Experimental results:The SDNN of the 4%Artemisia argyi powder group horses was significantly improved by 25.89%(P<0.05)compared to the control group, and the root mean square value(RMSSD)of the adjacent cardiac cycle health difference of the 4%Artemisia argyi powder group horses was significantly improved by 28.99%(P<0.05)compared to the control group. The standard deviation of the instantaneous cardiac cycle interval(SD1)of the horses added with 1%~4%Artemisia argyi powder group horses was significantly reduced by 31.01%,33.38%,and 35.92%(P<0.05)compared to the control group, respectively. The SD2 of the horses added with 2%and 4%Artemisia argyi powder group horses was significantly reduced by 30.35%and 32.52%(P<0.05)compared to the control group, and the post race heart rate of the horses added with 2%and 4%Artemisia argyi powder group horses(P<0.05).The addition of 4%Artemisia argyi powder significantly increased the activity of glutathione peroxidase(GSH Px)in horse racing serum(P<0.05)and significantly reduced the content of malondialdehyde(MDA)in horse racing serum(P<0.05).The addition of 2%and 4%Artemisia argyi powder significantly reduced the content of uric acid(UA)and 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT)in horse racing serum(P<0.05).The addition of 2%Artemisia argyi powder significantly increased the content of gamma aminobutyric acid(GABA)in horse racing serum(P<0.05),while the addition of 2%and 4%Artemisia argyi powder significantly reduced the content of lactate in horse racing serum(P<0.05).Conclusion:Adding 4%mugwort powder can effectively improve the serum biochemical indicators of horse racing and enhance its athletic performance.
