Correlation analysis of body weight, body length, and chest girth of Chinese sturgeon(Acipenser sinensis Gray)and its application
This study comprehensively collected the reported data of body length, chest birth, and body weight of Chinese sturgeon at different ages.Based on the correlation analysis among body length(L),chest girth(X),and body weight(W),the optimal regression equations were established to estimate body weight and calculate the body weight of the F2 generation of cultured Chinese sturgeon, which has important significance for the breeding production and species protection of Chinese sturgeon. The results showed that the regression equation of body weight and length was obtained as WL=6×10-6L3.1063(R2=0.977,n=1589),the regression equation of body weight and chest girth was WX=2×10-4X2.8848(R2=0.961,n=419),and the equation of body weight and body length/chest girth was WLX=33.51614L-0.77509X+0.01035LX(R2=0.981,n=419).F2 generation Chinese sturgeon population that were from 2 to 14 years of age were conducted to evaluate with the three equations. The results showed that the relative errors of the average body weight of the Chinese sturgeon calculated by the WL equation were between 4.29%~18.12%,and the relative error of average body weight of the 2 and 3-years-old Chinese sturgeon group was 18.12%and 13.16%,respectively.Compared with the WL equation, the relative errors of the average body weight calculated by the WX equation were larger, ranging from 6.49%to 55.36%.The relative errors of the average body weight of the Chinese sturgeon over 3 years old calculated by the WLX equation were less than 4%,and there was no significant difference compared with the actual average body weight(P>0.05).Meanwhile,compared with the WL and WX equations, the relative errors of the average body weight of different age groups of Chinese sturgeon over 3 years old were also the lowest. Therefore, the WLX equation based on the body length, chest girth, and body weight of Chinese sturgeon could effectively estimate the body weight of F2 generation Chinese sturgeon from 4~14 years of age in artificial breeding.
