The effects of perilla seed extract on growth performance, immune function, and gut microbiota structure of piglets
The experiment aims to explore the effects of adding perilla seed extract to feed on the growth performance, immune indicators, and gut microbiota structure of piglets. 192 Duroc three yuan hybrid pigs(average weight 5.41±0.27 kg)were randomly divided into 4 groups, with 6 replicates in each group and 8 pigs in each replicate. Add 0(control group),120(experimental group Ⅰ),240(experimental group Ⅱ),and 480(experimental group Ⅲ)mg/kg of perilla seed extract to the basic diet as feed for each experimental group for a total of 28 days. The final weight of experimental group Ⅲ piglets significantly increased by 11.18%(P<0.05),and the average daily weight gain significantly increased by 6.84%(P<0.05). The feed to meat ratio significantly decreased by 8.94%(P<0.05);In addition, perilla seed extract had no significant effect on feed intake and diarrhea rate of piglets(P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the serum TNF-α content of piglets in experimental group Ⅲ was significantly reduced(P<0.05);The serum IL-1 β content of piglets in experimental groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,and Ⅲ significantly decreased(P<0.05);The serum IL-6 content in experimental group Ⅲ piglets significantly decreased(P<0.05);The serum IL-10 content in experimental group Ⅱ piglets significantly decreased(P<0.05);The serum complement C3 content of piglets in experimental groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ significantly increased(P<0.05);In addition, there were no significant differences in the levels of IL-2,IL-8,IL-10,and complement C4 among the groups(P>0.05). Compared with the control group, the Shannon index of ileal microbiota in experimental groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,and Ⅲ significantly increased(P<0.05);The Ace index and Chao 1 index of groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ in the experiment were significantly increased(P<0.05);In addition, there was no significant difference in Simpson,Sobs,Shannon Wiener, and Simpson Wiener indices among the groups(P>0.05). In summary, the data from this experiment showed that adding an appropriate amount of perilla seed extract(480 mg/kg)can enhance piglet immunity and promote growth and development.
