Effects of coptis extract on growth performance and intestinal morphology of piglets
This study mainly explores the effects of different levels of Coptis chinensis extract on the growth performance and intestinal morphology of weaned piglets. 90 weaned piglets with similar weights were selected and randomly divided into three groups. Each group was set up with 6 replicates, and each replicate was 5 weaned piglets. The weaned piglets in the control group were fed with basal diet, treatment group Ⅰ was fed with basal diet+Coptis chinensis extract(1%),and treatment group Ⅱ was fed with basal diet+Coptis chinensis extract(1.5%). Daily weight gain, daily feed intake,feed-to-weight ratio and intestinal morphology were recorded. The results showed that the daily weight gain of treatment group Ⅰ increased significantly, and the feed-to-weight ratio decreased significantly(P<0.05);the weight and daily weight gain of treatment group Ⅱ at the end of the test significantly increased, while the feed-to-weight ratio decreased significantly(P<0.05). The height of villi in the duodenum and ileum of treatment group Ⅰ was significantly increased, and the depth of ileal crypts was significantly reduced(P<0.05);the height of villi in the jejunum, duodenum and ileum of weaned piglets in treatment group Ⅱ was significantly increased, and the depth of ileal crypts was significantly increased(P<0.05). Significantly reduced(P<0.05).
